Abstract: In this paper we present a design for an electronic stethoscope to help in detecting abnormalities in infant cardiovascular systems. The proposed design consists of software com- ponents and hardware components. The soft- ware component time scales and filters the signal. The hardware component includes dual mi- crophones for noise cancellation, noise reducing headphones, and batteries to power the device. The design was tested using a MATLab sim- ulation and it proved to successfully filter out noise and slow the signal sufficiently to make abnormalities in the heartbeat audible.
